Our CrossFit Kids program is growing and changing, almost as quickly as these kids grow and change! We have some awesome new things in store for 2018 and want to share them with you.
Our Monday and Wednesday classes are growing from two classes each evening to three! The new schedule begins Wednesday, January 3:
- Elementary Class (ages 7 to 10): 6:00-6:45pm
- Middle School Class (ages 11 to 13): 6:45-7:30pm
- High School Class/Invitational* (ages 14-17): 7:30pm-8:30pm
Splitting up our classes will allow for more focused attention for each student at his or her current skill level and stage of development.
*Middle School aged students may be invited to join the Invitational class based on skill level, experience, and maturity. Also, all age ranges are approximate: contact us for more information about which class would be the best fit for your student.
Our all-ages Saturday class will still be from 10:45-11:30 each Saturday for the time being.
We welcome Coach Natalie Pietrangelo to the team! Natalie has been taking over some of the CF Kids classes for Coach Jenn, and now we will make it an official gig!
Coach Natalie is a physical education teacher in Cobb County holding her masters and specialist degrees in PE as well. She has enjoyed teaching for 15 years so far and is looking forward to turning over this new leaf while helping the CrossFit Kids to reach their goals and see their true potential.
New Theme: JET TO SUCCESS!
With the start of the new year, we want to roll out our new core values and theme, JET to Success!
JET to Success is based on our three core values of Joy, Effort, and Team.
Joy: We want all of the kids to find JOY in moving their bodies. That means we enjoy the process as much as possible (even when sometimes it's hard) and enjoy each other. We purposely add elements of fun to each class. Our goal is for each student to develop a life-long love of movement, thereby increasing the likelihood that they will continue this habit into adulthood.
Effort: Real progress does not happen without putting in some effort and practice. We strive to keep the practice/effort part of CF Kids as enjoyable as possible (see above) and work through logical and safe skill progressions to help them continue to build on their current skills. We also work to help the kids develop a good mindset approach to their workouts, which has carryover into real life, too.
Team: Even though the movements we do in CrossFit can be something of a solo pursuit, one of the best things about CrossFit is the sense of camaraderie and team work, even as we go after individual goals or are working at a different level from someone else in our class. This is true for adults and kids. We foster a supportive environment where kids encourage each other, work together, and play collaborative games.
We believe the key to success in our program is to bring these three elements together, and we are committed to bringing Joy, developing skills and a good work ethic (Effort), and creating a supportive class culture (Team) in every single class so that each child in our program can achieve their goals.
