We love kettlebells at CrossFit Kennesaw, and we use this versatile fitness tool every week in our regular classes, and in our specialty programs Fast & Strong and Legends. And of course, kettlebells are the key component of our newest specialty program–Swing Fit!
The kettlebell swing is the foundational kettlebell movement, and the one we focus most on in all of our classes. We most often rely on the two-handed Russian swing, which takes the bell to eye level, but we do the American (CrossFit) swing, too, and one-handed swings.
But there's so much more to the kettlebell! In this video from a recent Swing Fit class, one of our members demonstrates a movement that is great for the development of power, the dead clean. She takes the kettlebell from the ground up into the rack position (the resting position at the chest) in one motion. It's a great full body movement, and one that is not as well known as the swing.
